Jade bangle size guide: how to measure your hand

A jade bangle cannot be resized, so measure carefully. Bangle sizes are given as the inner diameter in millimetres (内径).

How to measure

  1. Bring your thumb and little finger together as if putting on a bangle.
  2. Wrap a soft tape or a strip of paper around the widest part of the hand (across the knuckles).
  3. Read the circumference in centimetres and use the chart below.
Hand circumferenceSuggested inner diameter
16 cmabout 50–52 mm
17 cmabout 53–54 mm
18 cmabout 55–56 mm
19 cmabout 57–58 mm
20 cmabout 59–60 mm
21 cmabout 61–62 mm

The chart is a starting point; wrist shape and how loose you like it matter. If you already own a bangle that fits, measure its inner diameter.

Putting it on

Use soap or lotion on your hand, or a thin plastic bag over the hand, and push gently while rotating. Do it over a bed or soft surface. Each bangle page on our site lists the inner diameter; ask us if you are unsure.

Quick answers

What size jade bangle do I need?

Measure your hand circumference across the knuckles with fingers together; 18 cm usually suits a 55–56 mm inner diameter.

Can a jade bangle be resized?

No. It is carved from one piece of stone, so choose the size carefully.
