What is Hetian jade? A short introduction for international buyers

Hetian jade (和田玉) is nephrite, the jade China has treasured for thousands of years. It is named after Hotan (Hetian) in Xinjiang, the historic source of the finest material on the Silk Road, though under the Chinese naming standard the name now covers nephrite of the right composition from other sources too.
